Hi! ... I'm Cody Thurston, owner of Ruidoso Outdoor Adventures, the Ruidoso Bike Shop and Outdoor Adventure Store. Born in Durango, Colorado in '71, I soon moved to Texas, where I grew up in the horse racing business eventually bringing me to Ruidoso fulltime. As a youngster though, I spent summers in Ruidoso, where I developed a passion for the outdoors.
Climbing Mt. Rainier early on opened my eyes to the outdoor world, it was life changing. I bought a bike, outdoor and camping gear, even ropes for rock climbing, and learned everything I needed to become a full fledged outdoor enthusiast. Racing mountain bikes, adventure racing, participating in many 24 hour races all followed and eventually landed me in Ruidoso to open a bike shop. I know this area should and can be a stellar outdoor destination.
So we started Ruidoso Trails Coalition to further develop the mountain bike scene. Ruidoso Outdoor Adventures is my way to help Ruidoso become a healthy, active community where we can all enjoy the outdoor beauty Ruidoso offers.
As stated in the Mountain Flyer recently, Ruidoso is arguably the most legendary region in New Mexico, and mountain biking has the potential to match that legendary status but has not been on the radar of the mountain bike community outside of the local area. With Ruidoso Outdoor Adventures, we'd like to help change that!
